Tom Selleck-2American actor Thomas William Selleck. His first role was private investigator Thomas Magnum in the television series Magnum, P.I. (1980-1988), for which he earned five Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead actor in a Drama Series, winning in 1985. From 2010 until the year 2010, Selleck was the New York City Police Chief Frank Reagan. In nine TV films that are based on the Robert B. Parker novels in which he portrayed Jesse Stone, a troubled police chief from a small town, beginning in the year 2005. Selleck also played Peter Mitchell as a bachelor architect as well as a bachelor architecture student in Three Men and a Baby (1987) as well as Three Men and a Little Lady(1990). From the time of Magnum, P.I., Selleck has been in more than 50 roles on TV as well as in film, such as the films Quigley Down Under, Mr. Lassiter and baseball. He was a recurring TV actor on the show playing Monica Geller's lover Dr. Richard Burke, on Friends; Lance White, the likeable, naive lover, in The Rockford Files; and as A.J., the casino owner. He also had a lead role in the television western film The Sacketts, based on two of Louis L'Amour's books.Selleck is a California Army National Guard veteran as well as a spokesperson for the National Rifle Association (NRA) as well as an endorser in ads for National Review magazine, and co-founder of the Character Counts! organization.
