LeBron Raymone James Sr. (born December 30, 1984) was an American professional basketball player with the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Nicknamed King James he is widely thought to be one of the best basketball players ever and is frequently compared to Michael Jordan in debates over the greatest basketball player ever. James has been the recipient of four NBA Championships, the four NBA MVP Awards and the four NBA Finals MVP Awards and three All-Star MVP Awards. He has also won the distinction of having two Olympic Gold Medals. James has the highest points during playoffs and has with the second-highest number of points in his career and is seventh in career assists. In addition to being an NBA All-Star, James was chosen to an NBA All-NBA Team on 18 occasions. James has played in ten NBA Finals the third most of all time, with eight games in succession between 2011 and 2018. In 2021 James was chosen to join make the NBA 75th Anniversary Team, and in 2022 he became the first athlete to ever in NBA history to score 10,000 points or more in a career in rebounds and assists. James played basketball at St. Vincent St. Mary High School in Akron Ohio. The national media hailed him as an NBA player of the year. As a prep to pro, his team, the Cleveland Cavaliers chose him as the first pick overall during the NBA draft in 2003. He was voted the NBA rookie of the year in 2004. Then he was one of the premier athletes of the NBA as he won both the NBA MVP Award in 2009 and 2010. After failing to win a championship with Cleveland James left in 2010 by way of a free-agent to join the Miami Heat this was announced in the television program The Decision and is among the most controversial free agent decisions ever made in the history of sports.
